Product description

Indication: Epigastric fullness, swelling (usually without pain), vomiting, borborygmi and diarrhoea. Retching, loss of appetite, intestinal inflammation, gastrointestinal disorders such as gastritis, enteritis, gastric ulcers, chronic hepatitis, early-stage cirrhosis, hypersecretion of acid, regional enteritis.
Action: Ban Xia Xie Xin Tang was created by the great ancient Chinese physician Zhang Zhongjing approximately 1,800 years ago.
Harmonises the Stomach and descends rebellious Qi, disperses accumulations, masses and lumps, relieves fullness and abdominal distension.
Formula explanation: Fullness in the stomach, with or without stomach pain, together with vomiting, nausea, loose stools or diarrhoea, poor appetite, etc. Such a range of symptoms represents a concurrence of Cold and/or Heat. The syndrome is regarded as a disharmony between the Stomach and Spleen that disrupts the flow of Qi both upward and downward in the Stomach. Zhi Ban Xia (Pinellia rhizome) is the principal herb that harmonises the Stomach, moves Qi downward and stops vomiting. Huang Qin (Scutellaria root) and Huang Lian (Coptis rhizome) disperse Heat through their cold and bitter properties. Dang Shen (Codonopsis) and Gan Cao (Licorice) nourish the Spleen and promote Central Qi. Scutellaria root and Coptis rhizome in the formula also have an inhibitory effect on the growth of Helicobacter pylori, the bacterium that causes most diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

Use

2 tablets 3 times daily, preferably during or after meals.

Contraindications

This formula is drying; therefore, do not use it in cases of Stomach Yin Deficiency with Dryness. This formula is somewhat toxic and is therefore not suitable for prolonged use.
